Family Idioms

We have so much fun with idioms at our house....and love to make up some of our own. Our newest one, we made up at the dinner table yesterday. Anthony was telling us some "facts" that we were all doubting to be true. But he kept attesting that they "really truly were true!"

Not quite buying it, I said, well I am going to have to go buy us all longer pants. Not understanding, Anthony and Nick asked why?

Because Anthony is pulling all our legs, so they are longer and our pants are too short. Nick and Anthony thought that was so funny, that they now want us to use the phrase. I need longer pants, whenever we think someone is telling us a story! Our new family idiom.

We have been having a lot of fun with the French idiom, cut the pear in two (see http://sandeefamily.blogspot.com/2008/10/couper-la-poire-en-deux.html ) That is until last night, when I said, Well do we need to cut the pear, and Tadpole said, "Better than cutting the cheese!"

Never a dull moment!
